Hi there!

I’m Katie Shelffo, OTR/L, MOT

Occupational therapist and OWNER of Bright Beginnings OT & Wellness

I am a National Board Certified occupational therapist for nearly a decade, mother of two, married to Jeff, a child at heart, and nerdy researcher.
I founded Bright Beginnings OT & Wellness to meet the unique needs of children and their families. Our services take a whole child, holistic wellness approach as we support participation in daily, meaningful activities. Therapy takes place in your child’s natural environment, such as the home, preschool or private school, local sensory gym, or other community setting. This allows their development to be cultivated where they use these skills each day. It also provides opportunity for parents to step out of the waiting room and play an active role in the therapy session. I work to ensure you feel empowered to carry over strategies and activities outside of therapy.
Occupational therapy focuses on the things a person wants and needs to do in their daily life. For kids, these meaningful occupations can include:
  • Play
  • School participation
  • Social engagement
  • Activities of daily living
Occupational therapists are skilled in the evaluation and development of a child’s skills that support their confident participation in daily life.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Kind Words

Katie is not only a fantastic therapist, she’s a hands-down wonderful person. She was a part of my child's therapy team at a point when things were at their most difficult and frustrating for us, but she always approached all of us with patience and kindness. She knew how to get my child to cooperate and put in the work and she listened to and was supportive with me. Feedback was always meaningful and she’d share resources and techniques to implement therapy at home.  She even made us a Peppa Pig motivation chart on her own time that still gets wall space at our space! Katie is a stellar therapist that made a huge difference in my whole family’s wellbeing.
