I’m Katie Shelffo, OTR/L, MOT

Occupational therapist and founder of Bright Beginnings OT & Wellness

I’m a National Board Certified Occupational Therapist with over a decade of experience, a mother of two, wife to Jeff, a child at heart, and a curious, nerdy researcher at my core.

I founded Bright Beginnings OT & Wellness to meet the unique needs of children and their families through a whole-child, holistic wellness approach. Our therapy blends the best of evidence-based pediatric OT with innovative NeuroAdaptive Therapy™ to target the brain, body, and nervous system — accelerating progress in attention, regulation, coordination, and confidence.

We believe therapy should happen where it matters most— whether that’s at home, preschool or private school, our clinic, a local sensory gym, or another community setting. This ensures your child can practice and master skills right where they’ll use them every day and feel comfortable.

Parents aren’t just observers here — you’re active partners in the process. Stepping beyond the waiting room, you’ll learn strategies, activities, and tools you can use between sessions so your child’s progress continues long after therapy ends. My goal is that you leave every session feeling empowered, equipped, and encouraged.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy focuses on the things a person wants and needs to do in their daily life. For kids, these meaningful occupations can include:
  • Play
  • School participation
  • Social engagement
  • Activities of daily living
Occupational therapists are skilled in the evaluation and development of a child’s skills that support their confident participation in daily life.

We are overflowing with gratitude for the immediate and remarkable improvement we witnessed in our daughter after the intensive program. The very next week, my husband and I were frequently moved to tears seeing her openly interacting, smiling, playing, and talking—behaviors she had never before shared with her family. We are in awe of her increased confidence, better information retention, willingness to share her thoughts and tell us stories, and accurate memory. Her life is undeniably changing for the better, and we feel incredibly blessed to have found this program.
